AH32 vs AH36 steel plate

Both are IACS higher-strength hull structural steel grades from the same 0°C impact-test class, and both are held in stock at the WISCO mill — the difference between them is minimum yield strength, not toughness.

How to choose

AH32 is stocked at the mill on a mixed basis (stock plus made-to-order runs), while AH36 is held as core stock — the larger, most consistently available line. The 40 MPa higher minimum yield on AH36 (355 MPa against 315 MPa) also allows a thinner plate to carry the same structural load. Which one your project actually needs is set by the classification society's rule calculation for that structural member, not by preference — check the vessel's structural drawing before substituting one grade for the other.
