AH36 and DH36 share the same 355 MPa minimum yield and the same tensile range — the entire difference between them is the impact-test temperature the classification society requires: 0°C for AH36, −20°C for DH36.

How to choose
AH36 and DH36 have identical minimum yield and tensile range, so the choice is one of toughness, set by the classification society's structural drawing and most often driven by plate thickness and the vessel's intended service area. AH36 is held as core stock at the mill; DH36 is rolled to order. If the drawing calls for DH36, build the mill's standard rolled-to-order lead time into your schedule. The two grades are not interchangeable once a class society has approved a design against one of them, so do not substitute AH36 to save time.
